Terms of Service
Effective date: May 10, 2026
These Terms of Service govern use of the Open Geospatial Solutions website, OAuth application, and related OpenGeoS tools, notebooks, plugins, and web applications.
Use of the Services
Open Geospatial Solutions provides open-source geospatial software and related online resources for mapping, data access, catalog exploration, and geospatial analysis. You may use the services only in compliance with these terms, applicable laws, and any terms that apply to third-party services or APIs used by a specific workflow.
Google OAuth and Third-Party Services
Some OpenGeoS tools use Google OAuth so users can authorize access to Google services needed for a selected geospatial workflow. You are responsible for the Google account, projects, datasets, files, and permissions you choose to use with OpenGeoS tools.
Third-party services, including Google services, are governed by their own terms and policies. Open Geospatial Solutions is not responsible for third-party services, data availability, quotas, pricing, or changes to those services.
Open-Source Software
Many OpenGeoS projects are distributed under open-source licenses, commonly the MIT license. When using a specific project, the license in that project’s repository controls your rights and obligations for the software code.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the services, including by:
- Violating applicable laws or third-party rights.
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, data, or APIs.
- Interfering with the security, availability, or integrity of OpenGeoS services.
- Using the services to distribute malware, spam, abusive content, or unlawful material.
- Exceeding applicable API quotas, rate limits, or usage restrictions.
User Data and Content
You retain ownership of data and content you provide or authorize for use with OpenGeoS tools. You grant Open Geospatial Solutions the limited permission needed to process that data for the workflow you request.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions needed for any data, files, projects, or services you connect to OpenGeoS tools.
No Warranty
The services and software are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. Open Geospatial Solutions does not guarantee that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for a particular purpose.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Open Geospatial Solutions and its maintainers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from use of the services.
Changes
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the services after updates means you accept the revised terms.
